![]() The main goal of the proposal is two-fold: The exercises of the 8DB00 course are implemented as MATLAB scripts, which are illustrative, however, do not foster the development of good programming practices (such as code organization into functions and code documentation) that the students can reuse in subsequent work in other courses or on projects. While exposure to multiple programming language is generally an advantage, trying to learn both at the same time is a hurdle and puts unnecessary stress on the students. Due to changes in the curriculum, this project is now happening at the same time as Programming and Genomics (8CA10) where Python is used, leading to the students being introduced to MATLAB and Python at the same time. ![]() However, the level of the students is quite different, and some need much more time to complete all the exercises.įor 8QA01, students currently receive template code in MATLAB, which they have to extend in project groups. As a result, the exercises and the project work are always the best reviewed component of the 8DC00 course. It enables the students to visualize the theoretical concepts discussed during the lectures, and enables them to develop code for their project work in a streamlined manner. ![]() The toolbox is used by the students for the exercises and project work of the course.
